To reach the Douthit Cemetery from Margarum, Alabama, travel north on County Rd. # 1, (Riverton Rose Trail) for approximately 9.2 miles to the cemetery on the left. There is a sign beside the road marking the entrance to the cemetery. Vandals have overturned a couple of large headstones. We were able to turn one over to get the names off it, but another was just too heavy without having bars to pry it up.

The Douthit Cemetery is located north of Margarum, Alabama on County Rd. 1 (Riverton Rose Trail). It is near the Bear Creek backwaters of the Tennessee River.

All of the graves listed below were in the woods. There were dozens more that were recognizable as graves only by sunken places in the ground and/or unreadable funeral home markers. One burial in this area was as late as 1964. One wonders why it was allowed to grow up so badly.
